Double act will help communities

NEIGHBOURHOODS in Vale Royal are in safe hands thanks to the appointment of two new community wardens.

Richard Jones, 32, and Tom Wood, 20, are the latest recruits to join Vale Royal Borough Council's community safety wardens scheme.

It was set up in 2003 to tackle priority problems in the Northwich, Witton, Rudheath, Weaverham and Winsford areas.

As part of a team of six wardens, Richard and Tom will patrol the borough, dealing with issues such as abandoned vehicles, fly tipping, nuisance neighbours and anti-social behaviour.

Tom, from Kinglsey, said: "I am very enthusiastic to get out and meet the public and I believe myself to be very approachable.

In the short time I have been working here I have built up a good rapport with many shopkeepers, youths and other members of the community."

Richard, from Middlewich, added: "Within the role I have met new people in differing communities and found all to be approachable, especially the youths, when informing them of who we are and what we do."
