Youngsters cast their vote

IT wasn't just Celebrity Big Brother that had young people voting in their droves on Friday.

Because more than 2,000 of Warrington's young people had their say in the annual youth parliament elections.

Votes were cast in the Warrington South and Warrington North constituencies as the 13-17-year-olds elected their very own young MPs for the next year.

And among the adult politicians on hand when the results were announced at the Gateway on Sankey Street was Clr Paul Ross, deputy leader, and Helen Jones MP and Helen Southworth MP.

For more details, read next week's Warrington Guardian.

Results:

For Warrington North there were 964 votes cast, a voter turnout of 71.44 per cent.

Elected as MYP: Jessica Latimer (William Beamont School)

Elected as deputy MYPs: Charlotte Fong (Padgate High School) & Andrew Martin (Culcheth High School)

For Warrington South there were 1,194 votes cast, a voter turnout of 62.61 per cent; the results of which are below:

Elected as MYP: Katie Jervis (Penketh High School)

Elected as deputy MYP's: Sean McGuiness (Barrowhall College) & Calum Moore (Lymm High School)
