Planes, trains and automatic free tickets

PLANE tickets can be swapped for free train tickets at Warrington Bank Quay.

Virgin Rail is giving them away in a promotion to attract commuters travelling to London.

During February and March, air travellers between London and Manchester can swap unused boarding cards for a free return train journey.

Virgin has staged the stunt because the number of passengers making the journey by train went up from 113,000 to 221,000 from September 2004 to October 2005, the number of plane passengers fell from 168,000 to 157,000 during the same period.

Warrington's Bank Quay is one of several stations taking part.
