Former mayor Arthur dies

THE funeral of one of Warrington's former mayors took place yesterday, Wednesday.

Arthur Higham died aged 90, on Monday, January 23.

Mr Higham was an ex-councillor and Conservative member of the Warrington Rural District Council, Warrington District Council in 1973 and served as a member of Warrington Borough Council from 1974 until 1986. He was Mayor in 1978 and 1979.

The funeral took place at Walton Lea Crematorium, followed by a wake at The Stag Inn in Walton.

Mr Higham was pre-deceased by his wife, Molly, and son, Philip. He leaves three daughters, one son, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
