Stalinist and out of touch

WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has hit out at a "Stalinist" health authority.

Speaking at health questions in the House of Commons on Tuesday, she quizzed health minister Liam Byne about rumours of a merger between Warrington and Whiston hospitals - exclusively revealed in the Warrington Guardian last year.

She said: "It is clear from documents that some of us have seen that the SHA is working on plans for mergers, including the merger of Warrington and Whiston hospitals.

"Does he accept that, because of the Strategic Health Authorities actions, I, my constituents and many Labour members have no confidence any more in what is an increasingly Stalinist and out of touch health authority?"

She is due to meet chief executive of the Cheshire and Merseyside SHA Chris Hannah tomorrow, Friday.
