Prisoner's claim over towel

A CONVICTED rapist claims having only one towel a week in his prison cell was violating his human rights.

David Hodgkinson, originally from Yorkshire, is serving 16 years and this week launched a judicial review at London's High Court after claiming the one hand towel a week he was given at Risley prison was "torture" and "degrading".

But he was forced to abandon his case after Mr Justice Silber told him the prison had just had a delivery of 1,100 fresh towels. Prison staff said towels had been stolen, leaving them with no choice but to cut the allocation from two towels a week to one for inmates.

Hodgkinson vowed to return to court if he doesn't get what he believes he is entitled too.
