Woman kidnapped at knifepoint

A TERRIFIED woman was kidnapped at knifepoint in Old Hall and forced to drive to Lancashire.

The 32-year-old was said to be 'severely shaken' after a man jumped in to her black Seat Ibiza at traffic lights on Twenty Acre Road.

He brandished the knife while ordering her on a motorway journey towards Blackburn, yesterday, Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Kate Tomlinson said: "It was a terrifying ordeal for this woman, but thankfully she was unharmed.

"This was a rare incident, but we are asking anyone who saw the car or recognised the offender to get in touch with police.

The victim had been on her way to work at 8am when she was forced to drive out of Warrington along the A49 joining junction nine of the M62 and travelling on the M6 until junction 21a northbound.

She then drove on to the M65 until junction four at the Blackburn and Darwen service station.

The abductor got out shortly before the services.

DS Tomlinson added: "His motives are a mystery but it's obvious he was desperate to get somewhere. Although we believe he may have been in Warrington for some time."

The man is described as Asian, in his late 20s and 5ft 11ins tall.

He spoke with a Lancashire accent and had two or three distinct razored sections out of his right eyebrow.

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Warrington SIU on 01244 613 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
