Car for crossbar in half-time event

SUPPORTERS attending Warrington Wolves home matches in 2006 could drive away in a new car thanks to a half-time challenge set up with PLP Lookers.

If kickers strike the crossbar three times from three conversion attempts they will win a car, but two successes will win them a signed Wolves shirt and one hit will be rewarded with a replica jersey.

Battle of Bridges

BURTONWOOD Bridge ran in four tries to defeat Bamber Bridge 26-16 in Mark Norris Building Services North West Counties Division Three on Saturday.

Richard Mathias crossed before the break, while Adam Whalin added to Peter Collins' double after the interval.

Neil Helsby converted three tries and landed three penalties.

Off the canvas

RYLANDS showed tremendous character to pick themselves up off the canvas twice and beat Orrell 18-12 in a thrilling North West Counties Amateur Rugby League Premier Division youth encounter.

When trailing 6-0 and 12-6 Rylands hauled themselves back into the game with an individual Darren Hill try and a Jonathon Smith effort after good work from Anthony Braide.

Chris Forster converted both, added a penalty and burrowed over for the winning try.

Refereeing course

A NEW rugby league match officials course will be running on April 8 and 9 at William Beamont Sports College in Warrington.

Taylor made win

KING and Queen bowler John Taylor has swept to success.

He defeated Ron Wilson, of Crosfields, 21-20 in the final of Sunday's Richmonds Sweep.

The semi finalists were Frank Lawless and Christine Lafferty, of Grappenhall Ex-Servicemans.

Evening league

WARRINGTON Women's Evening Bowls League are holding their registration meeting on February 9 at Grange Sports Club, starting at 7.30pm. Teams that wish to join the league or have enough players to split into two sides should contact Sue Griffiths on 485292.

St Elphins meet

A REGISTRATION meeting for St Elphins pensioners' bowls team will take place in the pavilion at the Fairfield park on Monday at 2pm. New players and social members will be made welcome.

Players wanted

NEW players are wanted for two of Orford War Memorial Recreation Club's bowls teams. Anyone wanting to join the club's Wednesday C team or Friday A team can contact Joe Maher on 656041.
