Stations win top awards

RAIL users in the Northwich area should relish their surroundings because two local stations have been recognised in the Cheshire Best Kept Station Competition.

Northwich station was rewarded for its £500,000 Zone development by event organisers JPD Group and The Forestry Commission also claimed an award for its work at Delamere Station.

Mike Cooksley, chairman of Visit Chester and Cheshire, said: "We're delighted to support the event because stations are a key gateway for our visitors and provide a first and lasting impression.

"I applaud those volunteer groups who give their own time to make our stations a safer and better place."

Cheshire High Sheriff Carolin Patton-Smith added: "I am absolutely thrilled Northwich has won."
