A GROUP of singers is on the lookout for a new accompanist as its present one is leaving to go to Cambridge University.
Matt Kay, 19, of Queen Street, Middlewich, has been accompanying the Condate Singers for 12 months during his gap year but is going to study music at Jesus College.
The Condate Singers (Condate is the Roman name for Northwich) meet every Thursday at 7.30pm at the Methodist Church, on Witton Street in Northwich.
They sing a wide variety of music, madrigals, oratorio, folk songs, jazz, music from the shows, modern classics (Blue Moon, Autumn Leaves, Tea for Two) and the Beatles.
The conductor is Jim Watson, who used to sing with the BBC Singers.
Irene Garner, one of the singers, said: " We will miss Matt greatly and wish him every success in his musical career.
"He is a great accompanist and has worked very hard learning a great variety of music adding jazz, pop and modern music to his classical repertoire.
"He will be a hard act to follow."
