Daniel gets on his bike and still completes run

RUNNING a half marathon would be more than enough for some people but an Appleton man decided to go one further and cycle 150 miles to the Great North Run.

Daniel Emmett, aged 32, of Bernard Avenue, went coast to coast from Widnes Estuary to Saltburn, near Newcastle, and raised about £500 for the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow charity.

Mr Emmett said: "It costs £70 for someone to undergo a bone marrow test and a lot of children out there need the transfusion. I wanted to help."

Although it was his first half marathon, Mr Emmett said the buzz of thousands of people cheering runners on was hugely motivating and he would like to do another. He is grateful to his family, especially wife Hannah and mum Susan, for all their help with fundraising.
