Good food in schools

WARRINGTON is leading the way for better school nutrition with an innovative training scheme.

All of Warrington's school meals catering supervisors have attended a course at Warrington Collegiate.

The course, which is believed to be the first of its kind in Britain, has been developed with health chiefs, the council and the north west co-ordinator of the national school fruit and vegetable scheme.

Clr Maureen Banner, executive board member for well being, said: "The knowledge and the skills our catering supervisors have gained from this training puts them well ahead of the game in the difficult area of ensuring the children of Warrington adopt and maintain healthy eating habits."
