A STRATEGY group is getting together to tackle the only road nuisance 'worse than white van man' - parents on the school run.
The borough council is drawing together all the people who do school visits to see how they can help reduce congestion around schools.
People like firefighters, sports groups and anyone else who gives talks in schools will be able to share information on how to encourage children to get to school without their parents driving them in.
The School Travel Strategy group is getting set up some time this Autumn.
Parents on the schools were voted as being drivers than 'white van man' in a recent survey by the insurance firm Direct Link.
But they create worse problems than just irate neighbours.
A recent borough council report says: "Not only does the 'school run' impact on traffic levels at peak times but children who are driven to school every day miss out on vital exercise.
"With child obesity on the increase, encouraging the use of other modes to school has quality of life and health benefits as well as a transport planning justification."
