Positive way to discuss policing

THE Grange Residents' Association held its annual meeting last week to give residents the chance to raise issues affecting their lives.

The meeting, which took place on Tuesday at Grange Court, also allowed the association to give members an update on ongoing issues being addressed.

The agenda included recreation grounds, dropped kerbs, telephone boxes on Nixon Drive, estate inspections, streetlights and the estate environmental audit.

Association chairman Mike Kennedy said: "It was a very positive meeting and it was a great opportunity for us to meet with the residents and talk to them about these issues."

One of the main items up for discussion was policing on the estate.

Mr Kennedy said: "We have, during the past five years, been working closely with the police to identify areas of possible drug use and anti-social behaviour.

"We also welcome the new initiative of community action meetings which are being piloted on the Grange estate.

"These meetings will enable the police to identify residents' concerns with regard to tackling crime and prioritise the main issues."
