IT will be a dog day afternoon at a Howley nursing home today, Tuesday.
Staff will be bringing in their pet dogs to raise money for an animal welfare charity.
Bupa's Riverbank Nursing Home also hopes the animals will give residents a boost.
The pet pooches are coming for The Blue Cross' 'Take Your Dog to Work Day'.
The Blue Cross aims to ensure the welfare of animals and to highlight the benefits of companionship between animals and people.
The canine visitors will include Lady Gwilliam, a six-year-old shitzu, Blaze Harding a 15-week-old Staffordshire, and Rooney Gleave, two-and-a-half-year-old King Charles spaniel.
"This is always a fun day as residents really enjoy having the dogs around," said Patsy Linaker, activity co-ordinator at the home, on Egerton Street.
"We are also going to hold a best looking dog competition and a story from each dog owner to say why there dogs are so special!"
Researchers at the University of Warwick's say pets boost recovery after illness, reduce stress and provide companionship.
