Slimmers raise cash

SLIMMERS have been putting their excess pounds to good use by raising money to sponsor guide dog training.

Warrington Weight Watchers leaders, Michelle Garvin, Georgia Nunney and Lynne McIver, organised a number of charity events which culminated in a charity ball last weekend at the Village hotel in Warrington.

The night was a success and the grand total of the fundraising over eight months came to £9,541.18.

The money will be used to sponsor a puppy through guide dog training costing £5,000 before presenting the dog to a Warrington resident.

Members insisted on keeping the fundraising going until the £10,000 mark was reached which has allowed the group to put two dogs through training.
