Award will honour a little helper

NOMINATIONS are being sought to honour the voluntary work children and young people do in their communities.

The Sarah Shaw Young Volunteer Award, organised by Winsford Youth Forum, is now in its third year.

Sarah Shaw was a social worker and one of the initiators of the forum, who worked tirelessly in the community, particularly in connection with children and young people.

When Sarah died she bequeathed a small sum of money to the forum.

From this, the young people chose to buy two tables for table tennis and the rest was to be used to buy a shield.

It doesn't matter whether youngsters have only become involved in voluntary work recently or have been giving their time for years to be eligible for the awards.

The only criteria for entrants is that they are under 18 and live or do voluntary work in Winsford.

Nominations should come in the form of why the person has been nominated, by whom and contact details of the nominator.

The shield holds the names of each year's winner of the award. There are no prizes (although the winner and where appropriate, runner up, receive their own smaller shield).

Children and young people can be nominated by emailing winsfordyouthforum@tiscali.co.uk.
