Skate park scheme approved

CONTROVERSIAL plans for the Lymm skate park have been passed by the borough council.

Councillors voted unanimously in favour of the proposal at Wednesday's meeting of the Development Control Committee.

Anxious residents are worried the scheme in Ridgeway Grundy Park could lead to bad behaviour.

They submitted 94 letters of objection and it was referred to the committee from Lymm Parish Council.

The meeting heard the park meets the distance guideline of 30m from the nearest houses.

And it will be built with soundproofed materials.

Borough council officers say it 'improves the value of existing facilities' and 'takes into account the needs of future generations'.

The teenagers will now get to use two small ramps, a grind rail and skate-able bench when the £30,000 development is completed on the 170 square metre-site.
