Reveller dies on motorway

A 24-YEAR-OLD man has died after he was hit by a number of cars as he attempted to walk across the M62.

The victim was crossing with a friend near junction seven at Rainhill in the early hours of Saturday when the smash happened.

They had been on their way home from a party when he was struck on the westbound carriageway. His companion made it safely to the other side and was unharmed.

The carriageway was closed for several hours following the accident.

Merseyside Police confirmed an investigation into the death had begun and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
