Son caged for attack on dad

A MAN drunkenly stamped on his father's face - because his father slapped him for insulting his mother.

Carl Stretton attacked Stuart Stretton at home in Lodge Lane in May and broke two of his dad's teeth.

He was jailed for 18 months on Friday at Warrington Crown Court for what the judge called an 'unforgivable attack'.

Stretton had been told off by his mum for leaving a mess in the kitchen.

The 32-year-old responded with swear words and abuse.

His dad came from a bedroom dressed only in his underpants and slapped his son, saying 'don't speak to your mother like that'.

Stretton responded by pushing his dad around, punching him and then stamping on his head twice, leaving him on the floor in a large pool of blood.

He admitted the attack to the police and later pleaded guilty to a grievous bodily harm charge.

His father had not wanted the court action to proceed.

Amos Waldman, defending, told the court that Stretton was remorseful and that drink had played a part in the attack.

Stretton also has previous convictions from 1989 and 1993 for assaulting his care worker and his head teacher.

Judge David Hale said: "I cannot conceivably conclude Stretton is other than a significant risk of serious harm to members of the public."

And Judge Hale told Stretton himself: "This was an unforgivable attack and I am sure you regret it but you were drunk and out of control, and it is something you have done in the past."

Stretton was jailed for 18 months.
