SHARP SIGNS EXTENDED CONTRACT

HUDDERSFIELD Giants have extended the contract of Head Coach Jon Sharp for a further three seasons to the end of season 2008.

Sharp's current deal was due to expire at the end of next year and the Giants have moved quickly to secure the services of the man who has already guided the Club to its highest ever Super League finish, highest number of Super League points and first Challenge Cup semi final of over 40 years. Sharp's rising reputation has also seen him appointed to the Great Britain assistant coach role.

Giants Chairman Ken Davy commented

"In the past two years as Head Coach Jon has demonstrated that he is a coach of the highest quality. His record to date is excellent and he has demonstrated with results on the pitch the progression that we seek as a club. His recruitment of high quality star players is something that Giants fans of the past 40 years have only dreamed of and he has helped Huddersfield become a very attractive proposition for players of outstanding quality. In addition to that he has overseen the development of our younger players with the elevation to international status for Eorl Crabtree, Stuart Jones and Paul Reilly being the undoubted highlights. Behind the scenes he has also put excellent structures to develop our young talent, of which the likes of Tom Hemingway, Bolu Fagborun and Simon George are testament.

We are a club with massive ambition and the appointment of the Head Coach is a crucial decision for us to take. In Jon Sharp we have a man who shares our ambitions. I am confident that his new contract will give us the stability of management needed to continue our progression to meet our objectives."

Jon Sharp said

"I am delighted to sign my new deal at the Giants. The club is making great strides both on and off the field and my new contract means that we can continue to build on the progress we have made over the past two seasons. This club has tremendous potential and over the next three seasons will be a very exciting place to work and I am really looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead"
