WARRINGTON crashed back down to earth after the previous weekend's cup win at Trafford MV with a heavy defeat at Leigh in Euromanx South Lancashire Cheshire One on Saturday.

They did take the lead against the favourites for the title when Rockey kicked a penalty, but they failed to score another point as Leigh dominated the game and ran in several tries to secure victory.

Warrington travel to promoted outfit Oldershaw at the weekend.

WARRINGTON'S second team were defeated by an experienced Ormskirk side in their opening game.

The home side scored four tries in the first 20 minutes to give Warrington a mountain to climb, and even though McDermott, Hughes and Clarke all scored tries they could not claw their way back into the game.

Clarke produced a wonderful side-step for his try.

A YOUTHFUL third team were beaten by a powerful Ormskirk outfit who boasted a heavier pack of forwards.

Warrington did well to restrict the home side to a total of three converted tries.

WARRINGTON'S inexperience showed in their first league fixture as a team.

Their better-drilled opposition starved them of possession in both loose and set-piece plays.

Warrington gave an indication of their potential when powerful forward play and exciting support from the backs resulted in them scoring two tries either side of half time, with a further two tries being disallowed.

S Hughes led from the front for Lymm and was named man of the match.
