Motor firm to relocate

THE Oakmere motor group, which has three dealerships in the mid Cheshire area, is reassuring customers it is not closing down.

Last week plans were announced for a shopping complex, on Delamere Street, where the dealership is currently located within leased premises.

The group has this week announced its intention to make significant investment in a new state-of-the-art facility for their Mazda dealership.

Its intention is to relocate the dealership within a few miles of its existing base, with a number of potential sites being considered.

The group, which has two dealerships in Northwich, also holds the franchises for Toyota, Lotus, Subaru and Noble, and employs more than 60 people across its three sites.

Neil Shepherdson, Oakmere's managing director, explained his reasons for wanting to relocate the business.

He said: "We took on the Mazda franchise at short notice earlier this year, due to the previous owners ceasing to trade.

"It was important that local Mazda owners had somewhere to come to for routine servicing and repairs, so we therefore rented the existing site.

"Having had time to assess the needs of our customers, we have now decided that a facility similar to our two other dealerships is required.

He added: "We greatly appreciate the loyalty shown by our Mazda customers and look forward to providing them with a long term relationship in our superb new facility in the area."
