Weight loss success could inspire others

AN ALTERNATIVE approach to losing weight is the mantra of the LighterLife programme due to be launched in Northwich in the coming weeks.

After losing 5st in five months, Anne Hall, 53, is hoping that her experience will act as an inspiration to others.

Launched just under a decade ago, the LighterLife Programme claims to have helped tens of thousands of people in the UK lose weight.

It uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to enable individuals to explore the reasons behind their overeating in a safe and supportive environment.

The scheme is open only to those classified as obese - that is three stones overweight - which accounts for around one in every five people.

"There is no whopping weigh-in," said Anne. "Instead we monitor a client's weight privately and the supportive nature of the group creates enormous goodwill.

"Each person adheres to a structured programme."

Former teacher Anne has been through a thorough three-month training programme to qualify as a full-time counsellor and will work with single-sex groups of between 7 and 10 people.

Individuals have an initial consultation and a GP check before starting a 14-week programme of rapid weight loss.

"Clients have the motivation to carry on because they see the weight coming off steadily," Anne said.

"On average they shed three or four pounds a week, which is really important when you have a lot to lose."

To find out more, call Anne on 01565 755365. The first classes are due to start in two weeks time.
