Pulling together for medics

PUB regulars pulled their way to tug of war success at a fundraiser in aid of a life-saving initiative.

The team from Congleton's Queen's Head Hotel triumphed in a tug of war contest against Congleton First Responders.

The responders group provides 999 back-up to paramedics in Congleton, and is led by Kate Bonney.

Kate organised a fun day at the Queen's Head, which raised £416 towards the cost of buying a training mannequin for the responders group.

Teams from the group, the hotel and Mersey Regional Ambulance Service management took part in an ambulance pull in the Congleton Railway Station car park.

The Queen's Head team pulled the ambulance over the 20-metre course in 14.9 seconds, followed by the responders in 22.8 seconds and ambulance management in 36.7.

The responders and pub team then went head-to-head in a tug of war, with the Queen's Head receiving a trophy donated by JS Trophies, from Rood Hill, Congleton.
