New voice for over 60's

ELDERLY people in Sandbach are being urged to make their voices heard through an Older Person's Forum.

Organised by Congleton Borough Council, the forum will meet bi-monthly at the council's Westfields HQ, and tackle any issues that are important to older people.

Chairman Ray Richardson said: "The Forum is a group that gives the over sixties a voice to be heard and it can improve their day to day lives.

"It helps older people continue to live in their own homes - it really can change their quality of life."

Organisers will invite professionals from local authorities and voluntary groups to come along and take up issues such as distraction burglaries, access to transport, benefits, DataLink and healthy living.

Ray added: "This Forum raises the profile of older people. It is much more powerful than individuals speaking on their own.

Anyone interested in attending should contact Karen Carsberg on 769358.
