Rsults show year group overcame closure threat

THE HEADTEACHER of King's Grove School was full of praise for his students after their performances in this year's GCSE exams.

Bill Evans said he was particularly pleased with the results earned by this year's group, which was the group most affected by the threat to close the school five years ago.

Among the top performers were Alistair Lyes, Colleen Moloney, Alexandra Piotrowicz, Kayleigh Whitehouse and Christopher Worrall, who all scored 11 A* to C grade passes.

Mr Evans said: "I would like to congratulate all pupils on the examination success they achieved, particularly given this was the year group most affected by the threat to close King's Grove five years ago.

"Of the 55 pupils who sat examinations, 53 gained five passes or more, with 14 pupils gaining five or more A* to C grades.

"I would also like to congratulate the 22 pupils who sat the GCSE French examination at the end of year nine, all of whom passed."
