Grass fire warning

FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning after three grass fires on Saturday, August 20.

They were at Chapel Lane, Burtonwood, at 5pm, near to the Peace Centre; Sankey Way at 7.15pm and on the Manchester Road, Kingsway at 7.45pm.

A spokesman said: "People need to be careful to avoid discarding flammable goods in the hot weather.

"Some people are also setting things alight deliberately and they need to be aware that what seems like just a little bit of grass can easily escalate to a much more serious fire."
