Student shines at Southport Flower Show

A GREEN-fingered Warrington student brought an extra sparkle to Southport Flower Show.

Angela Hassall displayed her dream garden called The Eclipse Garden, which impressed flower show judges so much that they awarded it with a silver medal.

Ms Hassall, aged 44, of Sinclair Avenue, Longford, is a student on the Collegiate's introduction to horticulture course.

The garden was put together by her fellow students.

Ms Hassall's tutor, Sarah Park, said: "We have had a fantastic reaction from the public towards the eclipse garden. I think it is the very simple design of the garden that captured the public imagination. They can see that it is something they might be able to put together themselves".

The Southport Flower Show is the largest independent flower show in the country and attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year.
