A LORRY driver, jailed for his role in a massive £60million heroin smuggling scheme, had his sentence cut by an Appeal Court judge.
Terrance Pimley, from Birchwood, was jailed for 10 years at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to conspiracy to import heroin.
Pimley, aged 41, was prosecuted after detectives carried out 'Operation Sepulchre' - a police crackdown which broke up a £60million drugs network supplying narcotics to the north west of England.
The court was told that the long-distance lorry driver was approached by the drug-ring's masterminds, who persuaded him to bring in vast quantities of drugs from Holland on two occasions in 2002.
The consignments were delivered to an industrial unit near Warrington.
He smuggled between 48 and 64 kilos of heroin - worth around £15million on the streets.
He was paid around £22,000, although he declined to make the trip on a third occasion when he was asked.
Judge Sir John Alliott, sitting in London, said the 10-year sentence imposed failed to reflect full credit for Pimley's guilty plea - substituting an eight-year term.
