Girl is hailed a hero after she saves drowning boys

A WINSFORD girl has been hailed as a hero after she saved the lives of two young boys while she was on holiday with her family in France.

Jessica White, 10, of Vicarage Grove, didn't think twice about rushing into the sea to save two German boys who had got into difficulties while swimming off the coast of Lac De Lacanau.

She swam 20 metres out to sea to rescue the boys by retrieving their inflatable dinghy and pulling them back to the shore.

Her mum Janet said: "We saw the boys shouting for help and waving their arms and then we realised they couldn't swim.

"Jessica just ran in to get them and we're very proud of her.

"She has always been a very caring little girl and it didn't surprise me that she went in to help those boys."

Jessica is a member of Winsford Swimming Club and her parents believe it was her experience in water that enabled her to rescue the boys.

Andy, her father and swimming coach, said: "I was confident in her ability to go and help the boys because she is such a strong swimmer.

"I couldn't believe those boys' parents were not with them at the time and it just goes to show how important it is to be a good swimmer."
