WE'RE READY FOR SPAR-RING MATCH

FURIOUS residents have started a petition against plans to build a shopping complex which they believe would make their lives a misery.

A planning application has been submitted for a Spar store, petrol station and two other retail units on the site of the former Dickinson car dealership on Delamere Street.

But residents are disgusted by the proposals and are prepared to fight to stop the application being approved.

Eric Hulse, 72, has lived on Delamere Street for 51 years and feels the development would be disastrous for the area.

He said: "I live next door to the site and this would make our lives a misery.

"The noise would be horrendous and the extra traffic would be an absolute nightmare.

"I just can't believe this is even being considered."

Janet Dixon Town Planners Ltd is hoping to develop the site but residents do not feel it is needed.

Eric said: "At the end of the day it's only a Spar shop and I don't really think it will enhance the shopping experience of Winsford.

"We already have a convenience store opposite so why do we need another one?"

Residents have now started a petition against the plans in the hope of persuading Vale Royal Borough Council to refuse the application.

Arthur Dormer, 63, of Hill Top Avenue, has already submitted an objection to the borough council in an attempt to stop the development from going ahead.

He said: "This will back on to my home so it will reduce the value of my house considerably.

"I will have bins just yards from my dining room and that will probably attract vermin and I'm just not having that."
