New plan to revive a pub

THE landlord of a Barnton pub is celebrating a huge turnaround in fortunes and is now embarking on a new venture.

Dave Preston, landlord of the Barn Owl, bought the pub 18 months ago and has taken it from the verge of extinction to a thriving business.

He said: "It was going to be shut down before I took over and I think residents in Barnton were resigned to losing it.

"But things are going well now and hopefully the future of this pub is secure."

Dave has now set up a themed restaurant at the pub with dishes from around the world.

He said: "It is important that pubs diversify and I'm hoping the themed night will be a huge success for me.

"There does seem to be a lot of interest in it because it offers people something a little bit different that you don't usually get in pubs."
