Pupils exceed expectations

IT was smiles all round at Rudheath Community High School as pupils' examination results were finally revealed.

And headteacher Mike Hayhurst was quick to praise the performance of his Year 11 students. He said: "I am delighted with the performance of our pupils, many of whom have exceeded our expectations.

"The results are a tribute to their hard work, the support of their parents and the quality of the teaching. The conscientiousness of the staff and the additional time they spend working with pupils is to be applauded."

Vicky Proctor headed up the list of top performers with four A*, eight As and one B gracing her results sheet. Joanne Smith, Yasmin Ahmed, Daniel Clarke, Gail Edwards, Hannah Smith and Gareth Maddock closely followed her success.

Head of year Helen Farrer was also at the school on Thursday to congratulate the pupils on their achievements and their continuing support of each other, which had been evident during their years spent at Rudheath.
