Appeal for the return of family dog

THE heartbroken owners of a dog, stolen in Lowton and believed to be in the Warrington area, are calling for help.

Cassie, a four-month-old grey and white Staffordshire terrier, was stolen from Liverpool locksmith Ian Heritage's van in Kenyon Lane, in July.

Mr Heritage's wife, Maxine, said: "It is so upsetting. Our five-year-old son, Luke, is totally heartbroken."

The family are offering a cash reward for the return of the micro-chipped terrier, who has a distinctive white chest and white on her front legs.

Jane Hayes, the founder of website www.doglost.co.uk, said that dog theft is an epidemic worse than mobile phone theft.

She said: "Stealing and selling a dog is a quick and easy way to make money.

"If you have lost your dog, please contact us at DogLost and, free of charge, we will make up a poster, which anyone can see on our website and we can fax to up to 200 vets, pet shops, dog wardens and animal rescue centres within 30 miles of your post code."

If you have seen Cassie, call Ian Heritage on 07791 192549, or visit www.dog
