Aylish grabs hat-trick of victories

MANY excellent performances were produced by Warrington Athletics Club members at the Terry Davies Memorial open meeting on Sunday at Victoria Park.

Aylish McKenzie completed a hat-trick of victories in the under nines age group. Her successes came in the 75m, 150m and long jump.

Hannah Tart recorded a double win in the under 15s shot putt and hammer.

Tony Archdeacon won the senior 400m hurdles and further victories came from Luke Johnston in the under 13s 1,500m, Ryan O'Neill in the under 13s 800m and Stephen Broadhurst in the under 15s 800m.

Danny Cliffe set a personal best time as he finished second in the 1,500m, only a few hours after winning the fun run staged as part of the Birchwood 10km race.

Earlier in the week Danny destroyed his personal best time in the 3,000m when he recorded 9mins 7.79secs at the Trafford open meeting, which moved him to second place in the UK rankings for under 15s boys this year.

In the Birchwood road race, Neil Crompton was the first Warrington Athletics Club runner to finish.

He came 23rd in 35mins 3secs and was followed home by Paul Dodsworth, who was 35th in 35mins 43secs; Phil Rose, 316th in 44mins 42secs; Suzanne Andrews, 429th in 47mins 22secs; Fiona McGrath, 444th in 47mins 44secs; and Mark Smith, 587th in 50mins 59secs.
