WARRINGTON Athletics Club's Beth Hicken is a runner to keep an eye on for the future.
The 13-year-old ran at under 15s level for Cheshire in the Northern Inter-Counties Championships at Cudworth on Saturday and won gold in the 200m.
She set a personal best time of 26.55secs and, due to Beth's younger age, will be able to defend her title next year if she maintains her form.
Warrington's Romanian athlete Dorel Greta represented Cheshire for the first time.
He faced strong competition in the senior javelin event but beat his nearest rival by 20 centimetres with a throw of 60.33m.
Second places came from Heather Timmins in the under 17s girls' 3000m, Lawrence Walker in the under 17s boys' 3000m in a personal best time, Chris Kirk in the under 15s boys' 400m and Stephen Broadhurst in the under 15s boys' 800m.
Third spots were secured by Jonathon Kindon in the under 15s boys' high jump and Louise Woodward in the under 17s girls' 80m hurdles.
The rest of the team competed well with Chris Hilton recording a personal best time in the under 15s boys' 80m hurdles.
