Golfers in the swing to raise cash

MEMBERS of Lymm Golf Club got into the swing of charity fundraising, collecting more than £4,000 last year.

Last year's captain, Les Jones, presented a cheque for £4,488 to Claire House - a children's hospice that cares for youngsters from Cheshire, Merseyside, north Wales and the Isle of Man.

The cash was raised throughout the year by members, friends and guests at a variety of events.

Mr Jones said: "I am pleased to be supporting such a worthy cause as I know they will put the funds to good use."

Janet Croker, from Claire House, added: "There are many children from Warrington and the surrounding area that attend Claire House for specialist respite and terminal care.

"It means a lot to us to have support from local people as we receive no Government funding at all."
