TENANTS of Weaver Vale Housing Trust are being given the opportunity to choose who will represent them on the organisation's board.

Ballot papers have been sent to all tenants in the hope it will enable them to have greater influence on how the trust is run.

Tracey Holdcroft, tenant participation officer, said: "We want as many tenants as possible to vote because this is their chance to directly influence who sits on the key decision making body of the trust."

The chosen candidates will then be able to put forward the views of tenants on a range of issues affecting their lives.

Tracey said: "This is a logical extension of our approach to actively involving residents in shaping the future of their communities."

Tenants have been issued with prepaid envelopes to return their ballot forms and Weaver Vale Housing Trust is hoping the election process will receive the support of the community.

Eight candidates are in the running for just four places on the board.

Voting papers must be returned to Weaver Vale Housing Trust electoral reform ballot services by noon on September 2.

Candidates are:

Northwich area: Raymond Corker, Henry Rea and Edna Samlofski.

Rural area, covering Cuddington, Hartford, Tarporley, Delamere, Utkinton, Little Budworth, Oakmere, Rushton, Darnhall, Cotbrook and Marton: Alan Brett and Margaret Morgan.

Winsford area: George Brand, Elizabeth De Witt and Colin Murray.
