Cigarette thieves

BRAZEN burglars made off with hundreds of expensive foreign cigarettes after calmly walking through an unlocked front door while the owners were in the garden.

Police are urging anyone offered packets of distinctive blue-coloured 'Gauloises Blonde' to contact them after 40 cartons of the Belgian cigarettes were stolen during the incident.

The raiders struck between 10.30am and 12.30pm on August 17, in the Hallwood Park area of Runcorn.

They walked in through an unsecured front door while the middle-aged owners were in the back garden and took a new Matsui-brand DVD player, a camera and considerable amounts of jewellery described as 'distinctive and of great sentimental value'.

Anyone offered these items for sale or has other information should contact PC Kiara Murphy or PC Adam Bolger at Runcorn police on 01244-613 989.
