Cancer concert vow

A MUSICAL duo are hoping to raise thousands of pounds for the MacMillan Cancer Relief team at Crewe's Leighton Hospital in a special charity evening this October.

Chris Ashmore, aged 31, will join 26-year-old Matt Stokes for 'Chris and Matt's charity evening', when the pair hope around £2,500 will be generated for a cause close to their hearts.

Bank clerk Matt, whose stepfather was treated for cancer at Leighton before his death, said: "We've both had relatives who have been affected by the illness, and it is something which touches everyone's lives in some way at some point.

"The Macmillan team are trying to raise £485,000 to provide better medical attention, and Chris and I wanted to help out."

The charity night will be held at Hartford Social Club, near Northwich, and a week in a Portugal villa and £200 to spend at a Cheshire Oaks store will be available as raffle prizes.

Tickets for the night, on October 1, costing £10, are available by calling 01606 75287.
