Turn on and tune into the boys in blue going live

POLICE officers in Sankey were threatened with an intimidating object last week.

Officers at the station were confronted by Wire FM presenter Paul Holmes as he broadcast his afternoon show. They gave interviews about their work - and faced down Paul's weapon of choice. Paul said: "They said they've had guns pointed at them but having a microphone pointed at them was more frightening."

Sgt Chris Unsworth said: "A lot of us were a bit nervous beforehand, but it went well."
