Wolves lend a hand

WARRINGTON Wolves players are lending their support to Warrington Hospital's campaign to tackle infection control.

Steve Pickersgill and Andy Bracek, Wolves second row forwards, joined infection control nurse Lesley McKay to reinforce the Cleanyourhands campaign.

Since the beginning of June, North Cheshire Hospitals NHS Trust's infection control measures have been strengthened by a series of high profile posters and badges encouraging everybody to clean their hands with alcohol handrub dispensers.

Patients are also encouraged to ask staff if they have washed their hands.

Anna Alexander, the trust's deputy director of nursing, thanked the players for helping the battle to beat the bugs, including MRSA.

She said: "We have had a tremendous response from staff, patients and the public, with hand hygiene having a high profile at our Warrington and Halton sites.

"It's great to see Steve and Andy take the time to come in to lend their support to what we are doing. It just shows that hand hygiene and infection control is a matter for everyone."

Steve said: "The Wolves and the hospital both try to do things the right way which has led to some good results for both of us."
