Family centre finally gets a new garden

A NEW sensory room and patio garden has opened at St Joseph's Family Centre on Museum Street.

The new room, which will be used for counselling and complementary therapies, will provide help and relaxation to people suffering the stress caused by family breakdown and other personal problems.

Sr Mary Whelan, director of St Joseph's, said: "We are very grateful for the support the centre has had in turning this little dream into a reality.

"The room will offer a haven to people who are feeling anxious or strained and the patio garden is also a welcome addition.

"We have always wanted to have a small garden area where families can sit and enjoy their time together outdoors."

The new facilities were opened by Beverley Brooks MBE, the chief executive of the National Association of Child Contact Centres, who said that St Joseph's has long been recognised as a centre of excellence.
