Olympic medallist presents award to apprentice

A WIDNES apprentice has been honoured at the National Construction College Awards.

Gareth Hughes, 18, won the training award for 2nd Year Construction Technician at the National Construction College East.

He was presented with the award by Olympic medallist Kriss Akabusi at the ceremony, held on a former RAF site in Bircham Newton.

Gareth said: "I am really proud to win this award.

"It has been hard but rewarding work and I am really looking forward to my career in the industry".
