Downpours dampener for Alsager

ALSAGER CC saw hopes of an upset at Bramhall washed out.

Last weekend's downpours ensured no games in Cheshire County Cricket League Division One were completed. And play didn't even get underway with the match called off, meaning seven points apiece.

The result did the second-placed hosts no favours either with Birkenhead Park top of the table by just four points.

Alsager could have their sights set on a sixth spot finish. They can boost chances with relegation-threatened Upton visiting tomorrow, start 1pm.

Rain also ruled out any action for the 2nd XI but at least the club did get a game last Sunday.

Chris Greenhalgh was Alsager's star man with a maiden century in their 115-run victory against South Trafford outfit Bowdon.
