Girl needs treatment after chip pan blaze

A YOUNG teenager was treated for slight smoke inhalation after firefighters were called to extinguish a fire on the Cronkinson Oak estate in Nantwich on Monday.

Fire appliances from Crewe and Nantwich were called out after an unattended chip pan caught fire just after 6.35pm on Monday.

The house was smoke-logged and one of the residents, a 13-year-old girl, was treated for minor smoke inhalation.

Fire crews stayed behind after the incident to install smoke alarms at the property.

An ambulance was also called to the scene, but nobody required hospital treatment.

A Mersey Regional Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called to a kitchen pan fire in Cronkinson Oak, Nantwich, at around 6.44pm on Monday evening.

"We were told that the vehicle wasn't required.

"A 13-year-old girl suffered smoke inhalation, and paramedics treated her at the scene."
