Poor display

NORTHWICH produced their worst display of the season on Saturday losing by 28 runs at home to Styal.

The excellent drainage at Moss Farm meant this was one of the few fixtures to survive the weather and in a reduced match Northwich put the visitors in to bat first.

And they were made to rue that decision as Styal completely bossed the Northwich bowlers who failed to find any real penetration and rhythm.

Catches were dropped and further chances missed as Styal eased their way to 182-8 from 33 overs - their highest score of the season.

This left Northwich chasing an improbable total in 27 overs and they never looked like threatening the Styal score.

All the batsmen started well, but none could make a telling contribution as the innings closed on a meagre 154.
