A FUN day has been hailed a huge success in Windmill Hill, Runcorn.

It was a chance for residents to have a say on giving Priory View Community House in Lockgate West, a bright new image.

"The event was excellent," said Bill Edwards, chairman of Windmill Hill Residents Association and Environment Forum.

"One of the main objectives was to consult with people about revamping the outside of the building."

Creating a mural, installing more seating and fitting new doors were just some of ideas from the 50 residents who took part in the survey.

Their suggestions will now be analysed and turned into a business plan.

A clown, face painter and hair braider kept around 80 children entertained as adults were able to seek information from various community groups and organisations.

Age Concern, Surestart, and community police officers were among those offering help and advice.

An action packed programme of events and meetings is held at Priory View throughout the week, catering for all ages.

Toddlers' groups, lunches for the housebound and majorette dancing are just some of the many activities.

A refurbished lounge and equipped kitchen are among improvements carried out by the management committee, thanks to various funding initiatives.

"It is very time consuming but also very rewarding," said Bill. "We're trying to engage with the community. It was lovely to see people sitting outside round tables having a cup of tea."
