Funding will lightup Windmill Hill

A CRIME-hit Runcorn estate is to receive £10,000 of government cash to help deter yobs from the area.

The money will fund better lighting for dark paths and back alleyways that cut across roads in Windmill Hill.

The scheme is one of 88 similar projects across the country aimed at improving neighbourhoods as part of the Government's £1.2m Operation Gate-It.

Home Office minister, Hazel Blears, said: "By reinvesting in these areas, through better design, lighting or simply gating them off, people are able to reclaim spaces for themselves and their children."
